The Chief will have the responsibility to advance the regional and national reputation of the Ophthalmology program and embrace a vision that encompasses the mission and values of Connecticut Children’s, dedicated to improving the physical and emotional health of children through family-centered care, research, education, and advocacy.

Opportunity Highlights:

• Currently, the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology has 3 physicians, 3 optometrists and 2 advanced practice clinicians dedicated to serving children throughout Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, and Eastern New York - approximately 1,000,000 child lives and responsible for the oversight of 12 NICUs in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
• The new Chief will align and report directly to the Surgeon-in-Chief at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the President of Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group (CCSG), joining an institution with strategic and fiscal commitment to the clinical, academic, and educational enhancement of the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology.
• Resources and institutional commitment to initiate a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship Program.
• Connecticut Children’s is the only institution in the state that offers a unique, child-centered environment with the expertise of fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologists and the compliment of multidisciplinary programs and diagnostic capabilities. The ophthalmology division provides a tremendous opportunity to build a nationally recognized clinical program with specific opportunities in retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), cataract surgery and strabismus.
• We believe this to be one of the top leadership opportunities in Pediatrics and Surgery, offering the selected leader a chance to create a vision, implement a strategy, and cultivate a culture focused on children. In addition, the leader will have the opportunity to develop and mentor faculty, create community outreach, and develop research programs. 
• The Institution is willing to support seasoned leaders or individuals seeking their initial Chief role with mentorship, coaching and the fiscal resources necessary to recruit strong faculty and build respected clinical and research programs.
• Academic promotion occurs through the University of Connecticut and an Associate Professor rank or above is preferred. The compensation range for the Chief:  $450,000 - $500,000 annually, plus benefits.
