The University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty on the Education Scholar pathway for a unique opportunity to become Director of Evaluation and Assessment. The Director of Evaluation and Assessment provides leadership, oversight, monitoring, and execution of the assessment and evaluation processes for the medical students and curriculum across the four curricular years (MS1-MS4) through evidence-informed practices. The Director develops, manages, and monitors quality assurance programs for the medical education program, including curriculum, assessment of student learning, student services, and admissions, with the aim of providing high-quality data to assist in planning; foster diversity, equity and inclusion; inform decision making; and meet accreditation standards. The Director provides expertise and consultative support for the Teaching Academy and the engagement of its members in teaching, educational research, and other forms of educational scholarship.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or EdD in a related field (e.g., Educational Psychology) and at least three to five years of related experience. This includes a minimum of three years of teaching or teaching related activity (direct teaching, curriculum development, advising/mentoring, assessment and/or educational leadership). Successful candidates will have a background in educational research, assessment and evaluation, and quantitative methodology (e.g., statistics) and demonstrated proficiency with at least one statistical software application and Microsoft Excel.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated effectiveness in working with teams, managing multiple, simultaneous projects, and being able to explain complex processes using common, easy-to-understand descriptions as well as good communication and interpersonal relationship skills. The Director will serve as a faculty member who is administratively based in the Office of Medical Education (OME) and will report to the Director of the Teaching Academy. The Director will also be granted a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. Successful candidates will have experience and qualifications consistent with appointment at the Assistant Professor rank on the Education Scholar Pathway.
